Wesley Woods Summer Camp offers children and youth an opportunity to escape the expectations others have placed on them. The Wesley Woods camp site in nearby Indianola (just one hour from New Sharon) consists of 344 acres of rolling hills and picturesque beauty. The Wesley Woods summer camp program acknowledges that God created each camper special and unique. We want to give young people encouragement to strengthen who they are or to rewrite the direction they are heading. Through exploring the outdoors, being mentored by camp staff, cooking over fires, attending worship, having tons of fun and developing new skills each camper has an opportunity to learn a little more about who they are.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any extra fees associated with my children’s camps?

No. The fees listed in the catalog cover the expenses for the camper. 

How Do I Get My Kids Signed Up?

You can register through the church office by contacting us at info@newsharonumc.org or by calling the church office at 641-637-2561. A camp catalog is available through the church office as well. Call if you would like us to mail you one.

What do campers eat? Is there a snack shop?

No snack shop, but campers will be guaranteed two snacks daily on top of three regular meals. 

Can I request a bunkmate?

Yes! In the registration form there is a place to request one bunkmate. Any other requests are attempted to honor but it is dependent on lodging and cabin space.

How Do I Get to the Camp?

Please don't go to google or mapquest on your own, as they are WRONG! Wesley Woods is south of Des Moines and South of 92. Follow R63 to Nixon Street and turn left (Turn onto Nixon where the paved road ends). Click here for directions.

Are Scholarships available?

Our philosophy is that money should never be a reason a child doesn’t come to camp. Scholarships are offered on three different levels. New Sharon United Methodist Church   has a program for helping with camp costs. Also we have scholarships available through the Iowa conference. If you are in need of a scholarship contact us at info@newsharonumc.org or by calling us at 641-637-2561. Through our church office, we can assist you with obtaining conference camperships. The third level is that Wesley Woods is committed to getting every child to camp who wants to come, so we will FIND a WAY for your child to attend!
